IBEW 993 Lobbying in Victoria

During the BC Building Trades annual convention, one of the important things we do is break into groups and meet with MLAs to lobby on issues that matter to workers in the trades. These conversations are a key part of making sure the voices of skilled tradespeople are heard by the people elected to make decisions that affect our jobs, our families, and our communities.
Lobbying is important because it gives elected officials a direct understanding of the real needs and challenges facing people in the building trades. It helps ensure that decisions about infrastructure, training, safety, apprenticeships, wages, and labour standards are informed by the workers who do this work every day. When we speak directly with MLAs, we are not just raising concerns. We are helping shape better policy and making sure government understands what is needed to support a strong, safe, and sustainable building trades industry in British Columbia.
