IBEW 2015 Marketing Initiative Launch

Posted on April 14, 2015 1:43 pm

Today, with your support, the second phase of our National Marketing Campaign launches on television, on billboards throughout the province of Quebec, and on our updated microsite www.ibewcanada.ca and in French at www.fioecanada.ca. A bigger and even better campaign, the second national IBEW Commercial focuses on our history of building Canada for over 120 years. Thank you to the Local Unions who sent in old photos of real IBEW members throughout our history. Treated in lenticular style, if you pay close attention to the commercial when you see it, the images come alive with bits of motion and drama. As well, thank you to the IBEW members who volunteered their time to appear at the end of the commercial.

Check out the commercial here:

The commercial will air on TSN, Roger’s Hockey Night in Canada, the DIY Network, Discovery, Comedy and Space. When we know the exact dates and times for the Hockey Night in Canada spots, we will send out a reminder.

Print ads as well as the television commercial can easily be customized to include your Local Union information. Should you be interested or have any questions, contact the First District office. In addition, billboards and transit shelter ads are placed across the province of Quebec over the next eight weeks to support the campaign.

To help make this campaign a success, please encourage your members to check out the microsite and upload their stories under the Local Heroes section. Included with this letter are template ads for Local Heroes. The poster is for laser-printer to print out and place in your Local Union hall or training centre. The ad is for placement in your newsletter and the banner ads are for use on your websites.

We hope to use this to share stories of our members, our Local Unions, as well; we want to highlight the partnerships that exist between our union and our employers and contractors. If you can work with your employers who may be working on an interesting new project or a committee doing great work in the community, the newsfeed is a way to share timely, relevant information not only to educate our members and the public on what we do, but create some positive attention for the companies we work for. If you have any story ideas or videos please send it to: kate_walsh@ibew.org.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the First District office. Building on the success of last year’s campaign, moving the Canadian marketing initiative forward will continue to instill pride and ownership in the IBEW in Canada, increase our credibility to Canadian politicians and the Canadian public and help to continue to grow our membership.
