IBEW and Keynote Introduction
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) has been a proud part of the Canadian labour landscape for over 125 years, representing electrical workers in many different industries including Mining, Utilities, Construction, and Operations Maintenance.
Since 1947, in northern British Columbia and the Yukon Territories, IBEW Local 993 electricians have been integral to the development of the rich abundance of natural resources, clean energy and healthcare infrastructure that make British Columbia one of the best places to live and work in Canada. Projects such as Site C dam, LNG Canada, Highland Valley Copper, Rio Tinto Smelter Modernization, and Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace, to name just a few, all have IBEW 993 electrician fingerprints all over them.
In partnership with the Western Joint Electrical Training Society, IBEW 993 produces and maintains some of the best trained and skilled electrical construction professionals in the nation. The training available to our members is world class. With recognized Certifications in Fiber-Optics, Fire Alarm, High Voltage Splicing & Terminations, Electrical and Arc Flash Safety, Electrical Code and much, much more you can be certain that IBEW 993 Electricians are among the best in the business.
With almost 1000 member electricians and apprentices in Local 993, and access to 1000’s more from other locals in BC and across Canada, IBEW 993 affiliated electrical contractors are assured that no matter what their manpower requirements might be, whether it be 5 or 500, they will have the right people for the job and recruitment will be amongst the least of their worries.
