I’ll See You on the Next Call

After 15 years of serving this Local as Dispatcher, my employment with IBEW 993 has been terminated.
While this is not the ending I had hoped for, I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the members of IBEW 993 for allowing me the privilege of serving you. It has truly been a pleasure.
I took this job very seriously from the very beginning. I never lost sight of what dispatch means to a member and their family. A call to work is not just a job call. It can mean a mortgage payment, braces for a child, groceries on the table, gas in the truck, and peace of mind at home. I understood the responsibility that came with that, and I did my best every day to treat the work, and the members, with the respect they deserved.
When I started with IBEW 993, dispatch was being tracked on little 4×6 recipe cards. Over the years, I was proud to help move the Local forward with computerized tracking, better systems, and a website built specifically for our Local. That website gave members secure access to important information and helped bring our Local into the present.
I am grateful for the trust many of you placed in me over the years. I appreciated the conversations, the questions, the challenges, the laughs, and the opportunity to help members get to work. Serving the membership has meant a great deal to me.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your working lives for the past 15 years. I wish the members of IBEW 993 nothing but success, steady work, and a strong future.
In solidarity,
Darryl Schmidt
