Labour Day is more than just a holiday, it's a day to reflect on the struggles, victories, and unity of working people. On Labour Day in Kamloops, IBEW Local 993 proudly stood alongside our brothers, sisters, and friends from other unions and community organizations to celebrate the spirit of solidarity that continues to strengthen our movement.
A Day for Brotherhood and Sisterhood
For IBEW members, brotherhood and sisterhood form the foundation of who we are. Labour Day reminds us that these bonds extend beyond our own local and reach into every workplace, every trade, and every community where working people come together to make life better for each other. The event in McDonald Park was a powerful reminder that when we stand shoulder to shoulder, we are stronger.
United With Our Union Family
This year’s picnic showcased the incredible strength of the labour movement in Kamloops. From engaging booths hosted by local unions and organizations, to music, food, and activities for families, the day highlighted what we can achieve when we work together. Walking through the park, you could see union members connecting with one another, sharing stories, and building relationships that go far beyond the workplace.
Building a Better Future
Labour Day also reminds us that the fight for fairness, safety, and respect on the job is ongoing. By standing united, electricians other trades, teachers, healthcare workers, public employees, etc, we show the community and future generations the value of solidarity. Together, we honour the sacrifices of those who came before us and commit ourselves to creating a stronger tomorrow.
At IBEW Local 993, we are proud to celebrate Labour Day with our union family. The photos from the day tell the story best – brothers and sisters enjoying the sunshine, music, food, and above all, the spirit of unity that makes the labour movement unstoppable.
