Smart meter opposition gains former Merritt mayor

A Merritt group opposed to BC Hydros smart meter program has gained support from a veteran of Merritt politics.Former Merritt mayor Bob Baird told the News at a meeting of the Nicola Valley Safe Technology Advocates formerly the Merritt branch of the Coalition to Stop Smart Meters Thursday night that the City of Merritts actions on behalf of citizens opposed to the program and a Union of British Columbia Municipalities call for a provincewide moratorium is "superfluous.""The City is very closed mouth about it, if theyve done anything," said Baird, who attended the meeting along with 18 others.
